Disney Infinity R.I.P.

Today, Disney has announced that they are canceling the struggling Disney Infinity franchise. This news come on the heels of the company announcing their 2nd quarter financials. While Disney films are doing great financial, their media networks and resorts all saw losses in the 2nd quarter. Disney is actually taking a $147 bath to kill the Disney Infinity franchise. You can read more about the Q2 earnings on CNBC.

Disney Infinity 2

Disney Infinity launched in 2013 with Disney and Pixar characters. The following year, Disney Infinity 2.0 launched with Marvel characters. Finally, in 2015 we saw the addition of Star Wars characters in Disney Infinity 3.0. Disney Infinity 3.0 was a personal favorite of mine, having written the review. It was also well-regarded around the site and video game community. The series will be missed.

What do you guys think about this news? Are you surprised that the series is dead? Do you think there is a chance that it comes back? Let us know in the comments below.
