Members of the Xbox Insider testing program for Xbox One consoles now have access to an exciting new feature: AMD FreeSync functionality.
If you have access to the latest preview build of the Xbox One OS, just head over to “Display & Sound” – “Advanced Video Modes” in the Settings menu and enable “Allow variable refresh rate.” Here’s a description as to what this functionality does:
“This eliminates screen stuttering and tearing during gameplay on monitors that support Radeon FreeSync 2 technology. You may notice some choppiness while playing back game captures when this is enabled.”
To put it simply, this feature makes games look a lot smoother and more fluid on displays that have compatibility with FreeSync technology. This is achieved by an adaptive refresh rate. Since FreeSync for Xbox One has now come to previewers, hopefully, that means it will be made available to the general public soon.
