When it comes to writing the history of the first-person shooter there are a few games that have to be mentioned. Of course, you talk about the start of the genre with Wolfenstein and Doom. You need to mention both of the Half-Life games. When it comes to the genre appearing on consoles, it may have been Goldeneye that was the first big game but it is Halo that tweaked it, improved it, and defined it. Well, one of the co-creators of Halo is back with a new studio and a new sci-fi shooter, Disintegration.
Marcus Lehto is the former Bungie creative director and is now the president and game director at a new studio called V1 Interactive. It’s this studio that is behind the new game. At the moment, we know pretty much nothing about Disintegration. All that has been revealed is that is a new sci-fi shooter and that they will fully reveal the game during Gamescom on 19th August. In the meantime, they have at least released an ‘Announce Teaser’. It shows next to nothing, but if we had to guess it looks like some kind of spaceship. What is shown appears to be a close up of a propulsion system and then the weapons on the craft. You can check it out for yourself, below –
You can be sure we’ll have more next month when they release more info at Gamescom.
