Gears 5 is only a few weeks away now. This is Microsoft’s biggest game until the launch of their next-generation console. There’s quite a bit riding on it too. Having been lambasted for their lack of exclusives, this needs to be good. What’s more, while Gears 4 was solid, it didn’t quite live up to the other numbered Gears of War entries. If Gears 5 is poor, it could really hamper the franchise. Well, thanks to a Tweet from The Coalition’s Twitter account we now know that the main work on the game has finished with the game going gold and off to manufacturers. You can check it out below –
We are proud to announce that #Gears5 has gone gold!
From all of us at The Coalition, we couldn't be more excited to share this game with you in just 4 week's time.

The other bit of interesting news around Gears 5 is that they will be showing off the campaign for the game during Gamescom Opening Night Live. Geoff Keighley (best known for The Game Awards) made the announcement via Twitter. Apparently, he’ll be joined by Rod Fergusson (studio head at The Coalition) who will be sharing horde mode on Inside Xbox and then showing off the campaign during the Opening Night Live event. This is particularly interesting as we haven’t seen anything from the campaign for over a year now. We expected it to be shown during the Xbox E3 Press Briefing but all we saw was the new Escape mode. Anyway, you can check out the Tweet below –
