We have talked on multiple occasions at Xbox Enthusiast about how the Need for Speed franchise has become disappointing. We’ve even talked about how the series should move forward. The last two attempts to revamp the franchise have been pretty disastrous. 2015’s Need for Speed was hampered by always being online, only ever being night-time, and having a bland setting. 2017’s Need for Speed: Payback looked really promising. It looked like it was taking cues from The Fast and the Furious movies. The problem was that the game soiled its upgrade system with loot boxes. It wasn’t just that you could spend real-world money to upgrade your car. The real issue was that upgrades to your car were randomised. Anyway, we knew that there was going to be a new game in the series. We know now when we will learn more.
On the Electronic Arts website, there is now a page with the NFS logo and a countdown clock. This timer points to something happening on Wednesday at 3 pm BST, 10 am EDT, and 7 am PDT. What this will be, we won’t know until the time is up. It could be a full reveal of the new game. Alternatively, it could just be a logo that is released. What this does point to is the likelihood that the game will be shown at Gamescom.
As soon as we have more info, you can be sure that we will share it with you here on Xbox Enthusiast.
