A few days ago, a Need for Speed countdown appeared online, hinting at news on the upcoming entry. Today, EA has dropped a new trailer for the title, which is called Need for Speed Heat. The trailer shows off both day and night racing, plenty of cops and some neat looking vehicle customisation. It’s unclear if the graphics on show were real-time, but if so, the visuals look very promising indeed.
The pre-order link also brought some much welcome information – a release date! Need for Speed Heat will launch on November 8 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. This is almost two years to the day since the previous release; Need for Speed Payback. Since Rivals in 2013, the series switched to a two-year development cycle, allowing the developers more time on each game.
The series has struggled to gain ground this generation, with no real direction being evident for the franchise. NFS 2015 brought things full circle to street racing at night, but Payback threw that out of the window just two years later. The consistent and ever-brilliant Forza Horizon series has also taken much of NFS’s cake, albeit only on Xbox and recently, PC. Are you still willing to give Need for Speed another shot?
