Gears Tactics is coming to Xbox

Gears Tactics, the upcoming strategy spin-off for Gears, is coming to Xbox consoles. The title was announced at E3 2018, alongside Gears 5 and Gears POP!. The Coalition studio head Rod Ferguson confirmed the news on Twitter, when asked by a fan about an Xbox port.

No addition details were shared in the exchange, nor was a particular console confirmed. Little news came out this year about the game, so it could be a next generation title. Whether Gears Tactics releases on Xbox One or Project Scarlett remains to be seen. We also don’t know if the console release will come after PC, as the title was initially announced as PC-only.

As consoles are slowly adopting other input methods, it makes sense for Gears Tactics to come out there. Although keyboard & mouse support is becoming more widespread, I would appreciate a controller-specific scheme. The home of Gears has always been on Xbox, so its safe to assume that a solid controller scheme will be implemented for the port.

Gears POP! launches tomorrow, August 22 and will also be releasing for PC alongside mobile platforms. No Xbox version for Gears POP! has been announced, but it may come at a later date. Gears 5 is coming on September 10, or the 6th for ultimate edition owners on Xbox and PC.
