Mortal Kombat 11 is free this weekend

Mortal Kombat 11, the latest in the popular fighting series, is free this weekend. The event runs from October 11-14 on both Xbox One and PS4. All base game characters will be available to try, along with a set of DLC characters recently released for the game.

Of those DLC characters, the Terminator pack is available to try. This pack only contains one character, but you can play as T-800 himself. This is another video game tie-in for the upcoming movie, as Gears 5 also featured a Terminator: Dark Fate pack last month.

All game modes and fatalities are also free to play in the trial, offering the full range of Mortal Kombat goodies. We’re not sure how much of the story mode will be playable, as usually free trials lock game campaign modes after a certain amount of playtime.

There was some controversy at launch around the way Mortal Kombat 11 handled microtransactions, but by most accounts the game was still fun to play. If you avoided the game at launch due to this, now is your chance to give Mortal Kombat 11 a try at no cost.

If you’re a seasoned Mortal Kombat player, be ready for some newcomers this weekend! The free weekend trailer is available below.
