Codemasters lines up a new GRID title

As a huge racing fan, one of my favourite developers is Codemasters. The racing game specialists have been churning out fantastic content for years now. Whether it’s their superb F1 series or the magnificent DiRT games, they continually create brilliant racing games. Even ONRUSH, which failed to find an audience, is a compelling title. Well, today Codemasters announced that they are creating a new entry in the GRID franchise for current-gen systems.

Despite being the fourth GRID title in the franchise this new game is simply entitled GRID. It’ll be the first game in the series on Xbox One. The last title, GRID Autosport, was launched in 2014 but was only released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Like previous entries, this new game focuses on track racing with numerous disciplines to take part in. To make this entry as realistic as possible they can, they’ve hired (F1 champion and Le Mans 24hr winner) Fernando Alonso.

Here’s the official description of the new game along with the announcement trailer –

GRID is a racing experience like no other. Offering unrivalled moment-to-moment racing, GRID returns with an all-new experience where every race is the chance to choose your own path, create your own story and conquer the world of motorsport.

Take your place in the GRID World Series and fight in thrilling wheel-to-wheel battles with the most iconic and desirable race cars – current and classic, from GT through Touring and Muscle to Stock and Super Modifieds – and in some of the world’s most iconic locations. GRID captures every moment of the race, from the adrenaline rush of lights-out to the elation at the chequered flag – and in-between, it’s all action too.

Incidents come one right after the other – tight overtakes, bumper-to bumper scrapes and competitive collisions – all heightened by rivalries, team-mates and a nemesis driver who will all either try to help or hinder your progress.

GRID is scheduled to launch on
