Diablo IV was announced at this year’s Blizzcon, and is coming to consoles alongside PC. No release date was given for the next Diablo instalment, but it could be a ways off. The game was announced for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, but it could become a next gen title by the time it rolls around.
Diablo 3 was released way back in 2012 on PC, but didn’t come to console until the following year. It was then launched on current generation systems in 2014; dubbed the Ultimate Evil Edition. A version also released for Nintendo Switch last year.
This year’s Blizzcon event has been marred in controversy, but there has been some big game announcements. Alongside Diablo IV, Blizzard has also revealed Overwatch 2, which focuses on PvE, and a major expansion for World of Warcraft called Shadowlands.
Diablo has its roots placed firmly on the PC, but it has gained traction on console with the third instalment. There were plenty of updates and chunks of DLC content that released for Diablo 3 on console. With this, we hope Blizzard manage to find a way to build the game with console in mind, whilst keeping the core PC fanbase in mind.
Diablo IV will release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and could be cross generation title.
