Here’s what’s happening with Gears 5 over the next 6 months

The Xbox wing of Enthusiast Towers is pretty much filled with people playing Gears 5 right now. Apart from Allen who’s spending hours developing the perfect pauldron in GreedFall, we’re all enthralled by our adventures on Sera. As a few of us (well Ben and myself) have finished the campagin and been rampaging our way through the multiplayer suite, we’re left with the question – what next? Well, the team at The Coalition are aware of this and have shared their plans for the next 6 months. Every 3 months there will be a new Operation for the multiplayer component of the game. These will provide new content and unlockables for Versus, Horde, and Escape. Here’s a video explaining how they will work –

Operation 1 is currently underway. It features 4 new characters (we assume these are the Terminator and Halo bonus characters), new events, supply drops, and Escape hives each week and over 200 customisation items. Operation 2 is due to start in December. It is set to feature new Versus modes, maps, Escape hives, and builder tiles. There will be new characters available (we predict this is where Dave Bautista will be added). And of course the usual weekly Escape Hives and customisation options.

Whether this stream of content will be enough to keep gamers gripped to Gears 5 multiplayer, only time will tell. With such a great base to build upon, though and a development team who know what they’re doing, it would be foolish to bet against them.
