Line up on the GRID to check out the new trailer

I cannot express to you how excited I am to play the GRID title from Codemasters. The British developers are masters of the racing game genre and the GRID series is among my favourite franchises. It may have just started out as an offshoot of the DiRT franchise but it quickly became its own thing. And what a thing it was. I played countless hours and days out of the first couple of games. Unfortunately, I never got to check out GRID Autosport as it came out 8 months after the Xbox One came out and there was no backwards compatibility back then. However, I did get to review it for our sister site, Nintendo Enthusiast, earlier this week (please excuse the shameless plug).

Anyway, we’re now less than a month away from, the simply titled, GRID coming to Xbox One. To promote the upcoming release, Codemasters has released a new trailer for the game which you can check out below –

From the looks of the trailer, it’s certainly shaping up to be everything I hope it will be. The visuals for GRID look like they could be finally challenging the dominance of the Forza franchise. Codemasters has come a long way this generation on the graphics front with their latest games F1 2019 and DiRT Rally 2.0 looking fantastic. It’s interesting to see in the trailer that they have former Formula 1 champion, Fernando Alonso, involved. This does give the game some extra credibility, especially as he is also a winner of the Le Mans 24 hour race. With the next Forza Motorsport title being pushed back to launch alongside the next Xbox, here’s hoping that GRID scores in the open goal and gives us something of equal quality to fill that void.

Are you looking forward to GRID? Do you think it could finally challenge the Forza Motorsport franchise? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
