Narcos: Rise of the Cartels coming this November

If you enjoyed the action packed Narcos Netflix series, the TV giant has commissioned a video game tie-in. Narcos: Rise of the Cartels launches just next month; November 22 on Xbox One to be precise. The game is a turn based tactical shooter, where the player can choose to take either side of the drug war in Colombia.

That’ll be the DEA vs. the Narcos, and each side has its own unique mission structure and overall story campaign. We’ll assume that the Narcos side will feature some underhanded tactics, as the drug cartel don’t exactly play by the rules in the TV show.

The big appeal to this video game adaptation is the similarities to the well-received show. You’ll fight in locations plucked right out of Narcos, and with or against some its biggest characters. The game is predominantly played from an overhead perspective, but the action switches to third person during key moments in combat.

The new trailer shows off a distinct visual style which does match up well with the show. We will say that a spelling mistake on Colombia right at the start of the trailer doesn’t leave the best impression, and we hope the game’s quality stands up better.

The release date trailer is available below.
