DOOM 64, the Nintendo 64-exclusive entry in the DOOM franchise, is coming to current gen systems. The port was announced last year, and with the recent DOOM Eternal delay, Bethesda are offering it as a pre-order bonus on release. Now, the publisher has released a trailer for the cult classic.
The 30 second clip shows a variety of classic DOOM scenarios, basically; a bunch of blasting enemies to pieces. It has the classic DOOM visual style, when the series pioneered the shooter genre. The style changed with DOOM 3, as systems became capable of more sophisticated graphics.
DOOM 2016 was a fantastic return for the series, marrying the series classic gameplay loop with modern mechanics. DOOM Eternal sets out to follow that template, adding enhanced traversal mechanics in a more vertical world. We’re confident it will carry the series forward, but if not, you’re getting a certified DOOM experience included in your pre-order.
DOOM Eternal, along with 64, will launch March 20, 2020. Early next year is looking stacked already, with the anticipated releases of Ori and with Will of the Wisps, Watch Dogs Legion and Cyberpunk 2077 all coming between February and April next year.
Will you be pre-ordering DOOM Eternal to gain free access to DOOM 64 next March? The trailer is available below.
