EA and PopCap have announced that Plants Vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville is out now in early access. The next installment in the franchise is another third person shooter. We’ve known the game has been coming for some time, but the early access is somewhat of a stealth launch. The full release is October 18.
Alongside this announcement, EA has released a gameplay trailer. This is the first time we’ve seen the game in action, and it looks to build on PopCap’s work with Garden Warfare 2. The overworld returns from the previous entry, allowing players to access various modes through a 3D hub.
Six online multiplayer modes will be available at launch, with split screen co-op returning. This time around, the couch co-op options will be available for all modes. Split screen is somewhat of a lost format these days, so it’s nice to see this reveal put a big focus on it. There will be 20 customisable classes to choose from, so whatever mode you choose there looks to be enough variety.
Plants Vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville is available now in early access with weekly updates planned over the next six weeks to launch. The trailer is available below and the full game will release on October 18.
