If you’re looking to get your sporting fix over the Christmas break, publisher Bigben brings news on Rugby 20. The third and final beta phase is set to launch on December 19, and will run through January 3 on Xbox One. That gives players plenty of time to put the game through its paces before launch.
The publisher has also outlined the licensing deals present in Rugby 20. Whilst the upcoming beta phase will only feature national teams, the full game will showcase much more. 69 official teams will be present, across four leagues throughout the world. The team are also attempting to “faithfully reproduce” over 2000 rugby players.
Bigben are hoping that Rugby 20 will provide a good jump for rugby video games. Of course, they’ve never matched the quality and popularity (or indeed budget) of football games like FIFA and PES. This time around, the developers are putting a big focus on more realistic simulation.
That means tactical mid-game changes, attacking pods, passing after contact and set plays. There’s also new motion capture animations and redesigned AI, which will hopefully enable Rugby 20 to provide a proper leap over the last entry.
Rugby 20 launches on January 23 on Xbox One and PC. Will you be giving this year’s release a try?
