Shadow of the Tomb Raider could be getting a Definitive Edition

Shadow of the Tomb Raider, 2018’s finale to the new Tomb Raider trilogy could be getting a re-release. The Australian Classifications Board rated the title on October 3, but no specific platforms are mentioned. A release date isn’t mentioned either, but it could be imminent.

If the game releases on current generation systems, it’s safe to assume it will be a simple game+DLC bundle. The game was already enhanced for the Xbox One X, so we wouldn’t assume any improvements there. Of course, the game could be being saved for next generation systems.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider 2013, the first of the new trilogy, got its own Definitive Edition in 2014. That time around, it was visually enhanced for current-gen systems, so it would make sense to hold Shadow of the Tomb Raider for a similar re-release. It’s unclear whether there are plans for a new Tomb Raider game next generation.

According to a thread on gaming forum resetera, Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was also classified by a Korean ratings board way back in July 2019. That version specified Xbox One and PC, so it’s a possibility that a delay to next generation is the reason why it hasn’t released.
