The Best Xbox Game Pass Games Available Right Now

Xbox Game Pass is arguably one of the best deals in all of gaming. $10 a month gets you access to tons of great games that you download to your system and play whenever you want. It’s even better when you first start as you can start your subscription for $1. Whether you are a fan of action games, stealth games, or puzzle games, there is plenty of things to choose from with your subscription. Here are the very best Game Pass games available right now. Also, be sure to check out the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass this month.

Dishonored 2 (Console and PC)

dishonored 2

Dishonored 2 is a criminally underappreciated game from Arkane Studios. The game mixes stealth gameplay and action to produce an exciting assassin experience. If you have played the first game in the Dishonored series, you will know the main objective is to dispatch your target either by assassinating them or taking a non-lethal approach. Should you want to kill them, you can. If you decide you want to spare their lives, but still remove them from the situation, there are ways to do so. Choosing between Corvo and Emily will change your experience. Both characters have their own move sets that will differentiate your playthroughs. If you are looking for an interesting single-player experience that changes with how you play the game, download Dishonored 2.

Gears 5 (Console and PC)

While you have the chance to download every Gears game on Game Pass, you should give the newest game in the series a try. It picks up where Gears of War 4 abruptly left off and focuses on Kait Diaz and her family connection to the Swarm. Alongside the campaign are the popular Versus and Horde modes as well as a new three-player cooperative mode called Escape. Gears 5 has turned itself into the game that Gears of War 4 should have always been and is a must-play for fans of the series. If you are still on the fence, be sure to check out our Gears 5 Full Review.

Minecraft (Console)

Minecraft is a giant sandbox where you can do whatever you want. Mine for materials, build your dream home, slay monsters, and so much more. It is great for all ages and is still receiving regular updates today. Even if you have played the game before, there is likely something new you have yet to see in the game.

Mortal Kombat X (Console)

While it is not the latest entry in the Mortal Kombat series, MKX is still one of the best fighting games ever made. It was the first game that NetherRealm Studios experimented with, allowing each character multiple move sets, and the numerous guest appearances showcase multiple horror icons. Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, Predator, and the Xenomorph all are available in DLC packs if you decide to purchase them.

Rocket League (Console)

Rocket League is soccer played with cars. It’s a simple idea that is much more fun than you would think, especially if you are not a fan of sports. The physics engine put together by Psyonix is brilliant, and rocketing your car through the air to slam in a goal is one of the best feelings in any sports game. The game first released back in 2015 but still receives regular updates. Grab some friends and play this exhilarating game.

Batman: Return to Arkham (Console)

The Return to Arkham package includes both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two games in the Arkham series that gave Rocksteady a global name. In Arkham Asylum, Joker has taken over the mental hospital that Batman leaves his most vicious foes in. During the game, you will face off against popular Batman villains like Scarecrow, Bane, Poison Ivy, and Killer Croc.

In Arkham City, Gotham has moved the inmates to a closed-off section within the city itself. Hugo Strange is at the head of things, and you will have to fight your way through the likes of Raz Al Ghul, the Penguin, and Two-Face. Both games have numerous Easter eggs to the DC universe and are two of the best superhero games ever made. Whether you missed the games in the last generation or haven’t played them in a while, be sure to don the cowl once again.

Fallout 4 (Console)

Bethesda’s popular Fallout series might have hit a snag with Fallout 76, but Fallout 4 is still a brilliant game. You awake after 200 years in cryosleep and step out into the nuclear wasteland of the Commonwealth. Your son is missing, but there are more immediate things to take care of while you search for him. Different factions are fighting for control of the wasteland. Choose a side while dealing with the multitude of side quests and radiated threats that populate the area. If you are looking for a huge RPG to get yourself lost in, both Fallout 4 and Fallout 3 are available for you on Game Pass.

Dead By Daylight (Console)

dead by daylight

Dead By Daylight is one of the better asymmetrical multiplayer games to come out. Four survivors try to repair generators and escape a closed-in area before the killer hunts all of them down. Some notable guest appearances include Michael Myers, Ghostface, Ash (from Ash Vs. Evil Dead), and more. Dead By Daylight is best played with friends, so if you have four friends, jump into a private match, and you will all be screaming by the end of the night.

Superhot (Console and PC)

Superhot is an indie game with an interesting mechanic. It is a first-person shooter that only moves when you do. You will be in a room with multiple red guys, all trying to kill you. Using awesome slow-motion maneuvers and tactics to take them out is a ton of fun. When everyone is taken out, the game replays everything you did in real-time to give you that feeling that you were in an action movie.

Rise of the Tomb Raider (Console and PC)

Rise of the Tomb Raider released on the same day as Fallout 4 in 2015. Coming out on the same day as such an anticipated game buried the sequel to the Tomb Raider reboot. It is unfortunate because Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great game. If you enjoyed the first game, the sequel is filled with more of the same mechanics, puzzles, and gameplay. If you need to, you can also play the first game on Game Pass as well as the follow-up, Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

DOOM (Console)

DOOM made a mighty impact when the first game released in 1993. The 2016 reboot decided to bring back the Doom Slayer in a faster game that feels great the entire time. The campaign is brilliant, with an amazing soundtrack, a fun multiplayer, and a map creator. If you are planning on playing DOOM Eternal later this year, do yourself a favor and download this game once again.

Sunset Overdrive (Console)

Sunset Overdrive was an early Xbox One game made by the fantastic studio, Insomniac Games. While it looks very unlikely that we will ever get a sequel, this game is plain fun. You play as your created character during the takeover of monsters created by a tainted soda. The game is filled with tons of references and has one of the best ways to explore an open world. You can grind on rails, run on walls, and bounce on many objects to build up your combo meter to output more damage with the many crazy guns that are available. The game came out during a dark time in the Xbox One’s life, so it didn’t receive the recognition it truly deserves for being a high-quality game.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Console)

Anyone who has ever been a fan of the Halo series or Xbox games, in general, should download this mega collection. While it had a subpar launch when it first released, 343 Industries has been committed to fixing issues with it, and it now runs brilliantly. With your Game Pass subscription, you have access to Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. Should you decide you want it, you can also purchase Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach is coming in the future. All the games play exactly how they did when they first released, and every one of them is better than Halo 5: Guardians.

Life is Strange (Console)

life is strange

Life is Strange is a story-based game where you play as Max Caulfield after she discovers she can rewind time. She recently moved back to her hometown and reconnected with her best friend, Chloe. As the two friends start looking for one of Chloe’s friends Amber, they get wrapped in a case that has seen multiple girls go missing. Using Max’s time-reversing powers, and seeing the story unfold will have you falling in love with the characters. Once you finish this game, the prequel, Before the Storm, and the sequel are both also available on Game Pass for you to try and get more of the story.

The Walking Dead: Season One (Console)

The first season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead is a must-play for anyone who has yet to experience it. You play as Lee at the start of the zombie apocalypse. The choices you make through the story decides who lives and dies and who will be willing to help you should you need it. It’s not only you that you need to worry about, though. Clementine is a little girl that you quickly become close to, and you will need to watch her as you travel looking for safety. If you find yourself in love with Clementine and the story, there is more where that came from with the second and third seasons, also available on Game Pass.
