Obsidian Entertainment, who recently released The Outer Worlds, are already working on a brand new Xbox title. Grounded is a survival game that pits miniature survivors against the elements in a cartoonish world.
Grounded is set to launch on Game Preview next spring, and is playable at the X019 convention in London. A Bug’s Life was my first thought upon watching the trailer, and the miniature spin on things is a unique twist. The art style is also reminiscent of the popular Pixar movie.
Grounded is another major departure for a newly acquired Xbox studio, following Bleeding Edge. However, the team at Obsidian were keen to stress that a small subsection of the company were developing this one. The larger, core team is already at work on another big RPG title.
Grounded sits alongside Bleeding Edge and Ori and the Will of the Wisps in a stacked spring for Xbox Game Studios. In fact, the whole Industry looks to be betting big on early 2020 before the next generation begins. Of course, that starts at holiday 2020 for Xbox, with Project Scarlett releasing as Xbox One’s successor.
With Grounded, Ori and Bleeding Edge, which spring Xbox Games Studios title are you looking forward to most?
