X019: West of Dead Announced by Raw Fury

All eyes are on London as Microsoft kicks off the XO19! This evening we’re covering the releases as they are revealed.

The dulcet tones of Ron Perlman introduce the story of West of Dead, a twin-stick shooter from Raw Fury.

Purgatory, Wyoming, 1888.

A place of gun smoke and darkness, sin and damnation, wendigos and witches. A shifting, chaotic world that takes its form from the memories, culture or beliefs of the souls who pass through. When a dead man awakens with only the memory of a figure in black, he sets into motion a chain of events that have truly mythic consequences.

Step into the boots of the dead man William Mason (voiced by Ron Perlman) and descend into the grim and gritty world of Purgatory in this fast-paced twin-stick shooter that’ll put your skills to test. Dodge behind cover as you try to outgun your enemies in the unknown procedurally generated hunting grounds. The Wild West has never been this dark.

This highly-stylized shooter looks a graphic novel come to life. Boasting an art style somewhere between Sin City and Ghost Rider, West of Dead looks like a ton of fun. From its brief time on screen, the gameplay looks like a cross between a Diablo-like RPG and a very stylized RPG.

At this point, we know every little about the game other than the gameplay and Perlamn’s narration. This is one to keep an eye on if you are a fan of the western genre. West of Dead looks to be publishing sometime in 2020.
